Gambit is a perfect example of “what’s in a name”. Gambit means a calculated strategic move to gain advantage over your opponent. When he went to his new home at 9 weeks, they named him Gambit and boy was that a mistake. He took full advantage of his owners who didn’t want to be too hard on his little psyche`. He ruled the roost at first and as he got older he became more destructive…they had created a monster they couldn’t control. He came back to live with me, which he did for the next 3 years. My dad and sister took him later and he became their loving, non-destructive companion. Actually his calculated move got him to where he was happiest. As you notice, Gambit's ears are erect. Although this is a "severely penalized" fault in the American Whippet Club Standard, I find them very appealing. I think they give him a unique character, and that's just what he is!
