Buck was the male I kept in this litter. He was beautiful, strong and powerful, yet gentle. I had high hopes for him. When I had xrayed his littersister and found her to have hip dysplasia, I thought it was just one of those things. Since I had been diligent about doing eyes and hip certifications before breedings, I was surprised when Buck was also found to have hip dysplasia. I found a wonderful home for Buck with  Germaine Moody, who had had Afghans for years and recently lost her last one. It was a perfect match, she needed him as much as he needed to be the only dog in someones life. He protected her on the daily walks, no one dare approach them in a menacing way. She was his life. But as hip dysplasia often does, his life was ended earlier than usual because of the pain he was in. They had many years together but it still is never enough. She still misses him.
