Barclay was an outstanding member of a high quality litter produced by Randy X Hanna. He was a Blue & Silver like his father. Dominique and Christain Danel of France had inquired about the litter. Christain was making a trip to visit with June Boone (Kassan) and see some dogs in the US. He had made arrangements to come see Barclay to make sure he was what they were looking for, and he was.
Christain and Barclay made the trip back to France and in that short time, they bonded. Christain took him everywhere, usually off lead. This is a hard concept for most Americans as by our laws, dogs are not allowed off lead in most places. I remember a letter from Dominique telling me about trip they took to another country to attain Barclay's championship there and him in a busy airport walking off lead!!! I thought "Are they crazy?", it was beyond my comprehension.
Barclay had a powerful presence about him. You quickly realized that he was in charge of most situations. He was exactly what an adult male Afghan Hound's temperament should be, clownish and loving to his family, aloof with strangers yet not backing down to anyone or anything. Barclay was well matched in the breedings chosen by the Danels. He produced many champions for various breeders and is found in pedigrees around the world.
Thank you Dominique and Christain for allowing Barclay to be the King he truly knew he was. You gave him a wonderful home with the love and care that I want for all my dogs.
