The following pages will show you glimpses into
my life…chronicled by pictures of the kind of beauty that I have had the
pleasure to gaze at daily. They have inspired, held me in amazement and
filled my heart with joy and love. I believe that you have to be able to live
with a dog’s temperament and not cost you tons of money (vet bills). So
temperament and health are the main focus with show quality being a bonus…but
you also have to look at them every day!!! I love looking at my dogs and I
hope you do too!
I have been blessed through my life with a wonderful husband (same one
throughout all of this), great kids and wonderful mentors/breeders who
entrusted their knowledge and dreams (realized in flesh) to me. The life long
friendships that have developed are extraordinary. It’s the cement that
brings all of us dog people together and binds us in that mutual passion we
have for our chosen breeds and dogs as a whole. I wish to send a heartfelt
Thank You to Sandi Rolfe, Legacy Whippets. We have been through a lot of
changes over the years and our friendship grows deeper each year.

We did buy a female but luckily she was a baby and by the time she was old enough to breed, we had entered the world of dog shows. We realized this was not a good way of thinking and found a good home for her. We bought our first show Afghan in Oct. 1973. Our first breeding was in Oct. 1979. Between 1973 and 1977 we had our two daughters, Nancy Nichole and Rhiannon.

When I met my soon-to-be husband in mid 1972, he had an Afghan Hound as a pet. He was AKC registered and everything! We had dreams of buying a registered female to breed and makes lots of money! Right!!!

When you hear of a “dog crazy kid”…I was that. My mom didn’t allow me to have a dog so I would track down strays and try to take care of them, even if only a day or so. I would also ask neighbors if I could walk their dogs for them. I finally hit the jackpot… a stray who whelped puppies in our basement. My mom couldn’t put them out so I got not just one dog but 8! I did manage to find homes for them all and also kept the “pick “ boy. He was my closest friend throughout junior high and high school. I can still hear my mom say “when you have your own house, you won’t have any dogs in it!” Boy was she wrong!!!
